Cogworks - Patriot Mill Workshop

  The woodworking shop at patriot mill specializes in "precision woodworking". We have a deep understanding of wood, how it moves with moisture and how to cut it for best results. At Cogworks quality always comes first. Our own product line consists of replica wooden works movements, mechanisms in wood, science tools for teacher's, and larger interactive exhibits.  We also make wooden parts for companies who incorporate them into their products, such as basket lids for traditional and Nantucket baskets.

Manufacturing has taken place here since 1824. The current brick mill  was built in 1895, for the purpose of making rosewood handle blanks for Governor Goodell's thriving cutlery and apple paring business. Wood products have been made here ever since.

Quality wooden gearing has been a hallmark of the best New Hampshire craftsmen since 1800, and we are proud to carry on the tradition. The maple gears below from an 1800 Jesse Emory clock, will be ready for another 200 years of service after our recent tune up.
