Antrim Antrim is a small mill town located in the Monadnock region is southern New Hampshire. The Monadnock region is full of scenic backroads and quaint villages. We thought we should mention some of the historic houses and quaint villages while you’re here. Peterborough Peterborough is a lively New England town with a vibrant arts community. The village is home to Sharon Arts, Peterborough Players, and the McDowell Colony. We strongly recommend you to visit the Peterborough Historical Society, a small museum that features a large collection of the early American Furniture Masters including pieces by Dunlap and Willard. Peterborough Historical Society Hillsborough In Hillsborough visit the Franklin Pierce Homestead; built in 1804, this is the boyhood home of Franklin Pierce, 14th President of the United States. Hillsborough upper village is small hamlet that seems unchanged for 100 years. In the summer months it is the home of a gallery for local artists. New Ipswich One of the highlights of New Ipswich is Barrett House, a grand Federal style mansion. The house is resided in a beautiful setting, and its grounds feature the occasional Revolutionary War reenactment. Hancock Hancock is a traditional New England village, with many architectural highlights. The character of main street is beautifully preserved, home of the Hancock Inn, the oldest inn in New Hampshire. Francestown Francestown is small village that deserves a mention. The village mainly consists of late 18th century houses and public buildings, each meticulously kept. In the fall colors season, the ambiance is breathtaking. Jaffrey The in imposing visage of Mount Manadnock can be seen from miles around. The name Monadnock, coming from the Native American word for “lone mountain” is a well named. The 3,165 high mountain lies all by itself. Its popularity makes it one of the most climbed mountains in the world. Be sure to visit old Jaffrey, a small village of 18th century buildings.
